Individual Therapy

In my psychotherapy practice, I often hear this question: ”Why therapy? It’s just another life stage, a hurdle, everyone goes through, I should be able to overcome this myself?” Well, maybe because therapy allows you to create new ways to think about yourself and your relationships with others.

Throughout our lives, we all experience hurdles. Psychotherapy allows you to talk openly with someone objective, neutral, nonjudgmental, and professionally trained to listen to your life story. Consulting with a psychotherapist allows you to tell your concerns, to understand more clearly what’s going on, and most importantly, it may help open the door to a better future.

Over the past 35 years, I have worked with people from all cultural backgrounds on a wide array of issues, including depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties, infidelity, parenting, work-life balance, family building, identity formation, grief, and loss. I have learned that expectations followed by unmet needs and unfulfilled longings are a grand setup for failure and defeat.

My approach to therapy is known as “integrative therapy”. I will work with you to gain awareness about the nature, history, and multiple causes of your problems by utilizing different theories and research-supported techniques. We will identify useful/action-oriented techniques for taking concrete steps to change your behavior, both towards yourself and in your relationships.

Hopefully by he end of your work together you will leave you fulfilled, with a newfound personal power, a greater sense of peace, and enthusiasm for life.
